Genomic regions associated with salinity tolerance in lowland switchgrass

چکیده

Abstract Switchgrass ( Panicum virgatum L.) is a promising candidate species for sustainable biofuel feedstock production on marginal land. Soil salinity one of the significant factors that limits agricultural worldwide including substantial reduction in biomass yield switchgrass. This study was designed to assess genetic variation lowland switchgrass and identify genomic regions contributing an increased level tolerance using subset (550 pseudo F 2 ) nested association mapping (NAM) population. Salinity evaluated based salt injury score (SIS) 1 9 scale (1 = most tolerant, sensitive) stress index (STI) calculated from plant height measurements. Substantial among NAM families genotypes within observed p < .05) SIS. However, no evident STI. The accessions EG 1104–1, 1104–2 displayed high SIS which can be used as source material cultivar development. A total five quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with were detected by composite interval four chromosomes 2B, 6B, 7B, 9B. phenotypic explained individual QTL ranged 1.4 6.5%. additive effects −0.07 0.63. Homologs genes identified, reported tolerance.

Expression analysis of K+ transporter genes associated with salinity tolerance in grape

Molecular information of K+ accumulation in grapes is strongly required. Under salinity condition potassium transporters are inhibited by Na+. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of salinity on the expression of K+ transporter genes in grape. Based on the previous screening study on 18 grape genotypes, ‘H6’ and ‘Gharashani’ (tolerant) and ‘Shirazi’ and ‘GhezelUzum’ (sensitive) ...

Genomic Regions Associated with Tolerance to Freezing Stress and Snow Mold in Winter Wheat

Plants grown through the winter are subject to selective pressures that vary with each year's unique conditions, necessitating tolerance of numerous abiotic and biotic stress factors. The objective of this study was to identify molecular markers in winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) associated with tolerance of two of these stresses, freezing temperatures and snow mold-a fungal disease complex...

Chloroplast Genome Variation in Upland and Lowland Switchgrass

Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) exists at multiple ploidies and two phenotypically distinct ecotypes. To facilitate interploidal comparisons and to understand the extent of sequence variation within existing breeding pools, two complete switchgrass chloroplast genomes were sequenced from individuals representative of the upland and lowland ecotypes. The results demonstrated a very high degree...

Identification and Mapping of Quantitative Trait Loci Associated with Salinity Tolerance in Rice (Oryza Sativa) Using SSR Markers

Salinity stress is one of the most widespread soil problems next to drought, in rice growing areas. ReducingSodium (Na+), while maintaining Potassium (K+) uptake in rice are traits that would aid in salinity tolerance. Therefore, the identification of quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with those for Na+ and K+uptake, will enable breeders to use marker-assisted selection...
